I have been able to use Securus for a lot of things since my sister when to jail, and it has not just been for the video calls. I like the video calls that they have provided, and it is also a website where we can get other services that we need. Securus came up with the ConnectUs system that I thought I would never have to use, but it has been helpful.
The ConnectUs system holds all the forms and papers that you can send to the jail to ask for certain things. It is very easy for people to submit these papers like I have because they are right there on the Securus website. I had no idea all these forms existed, but then I heard from someone that they had to make a dietary request. I told them it might be there on the Securus website.

I also have used it myself because I had to submit a special request to have more than one person should up for a big visitation. The jail got the form through the Securus website, and I was able to send a few people out there to see her. That made the whole thing a lot easier for her and for us.
I have been using Securus a lot lately just to talk to my sister, and I have also been able to get her to talk to me about things that are important because seeing her makes it easier. We have real talks, and I do it all from my tablet. I can still ask her if I need to fill out any forms for her, and I get it done fast. Securus makes dealing with a family member being in jail a much easier thing than it used to be.
Global Tel Link (GTL) may have committed business suicide by attempting to use litigation to claim that their technologies and customer service is comparable to Securus Technologies, the reigning top provided of services to the civil and criminal justice industries. When Securus Technologies CEO, Richard Smith responded to news of GTL’s tactics, he issued a challenge for the companies to be judged by an independent technology firm. The CEO’s confidence stemmed from the fact that Securus had re-invested over $670 million back in the business and had acquired many technologies that lead the industry, including Guarded Exchange, Jpay Inc, CellBlox, JLG Rechnologies and Telerus. It also owns 125 patents and 35 pending which gives Securus a list of over 20 capabilities that GTL is lacking. In fact, Richard Smith stated that the current GTL technologies are outdated and was once used by Securus as well. The re-invested funds accounts for Securus being the largest calling platform in the world and allows the company to serve more than 3,450 public safety, correctional and law enforcement facilities across the country.
GTL’s attemp to use litigation may have prompted Securus’ latest series of press preleases that tells of GTL’s legal misconduct sited by numerous clients. The first in the series was publised June 7, 2016, and recounts actions reported by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. GTL’s pattern of behaviors include programming phones to add time to inmates calls, double billing for calls, over charging for calls and charging a rate above the amount permitted by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Securus, who now provides the telephone platform and services to more than a million inmates and their friends, families and loved ones, also provide video visitation and video education. CEO Richard (Rick) Smith said that GTL’s behavior offends not only him but the entire industry that has the mission to serve their customers with their best interest at heart. The information of unethical and illegal conduct was filed by the Louisiana Public Service Commission and the series will include reports from other GTL clients over the next 6 months.
